The Bee's Knees.

Our fourth son has turned four years old!
I took these photos of Beau during his final weeks as a three-year-old.
It was the first time any of our boys have ever worn a tie.  :)
So much to say about Beau at four years.
He has an endless range of interests.
He's the sweetest, kindest, lovey-est guy around.
He has a favorite pair of shorts that he's worn every moment possible all winter,
changing out of them only to go places,
& quickly putting them back on as soon as we're home.
I love his sturdy, strong little legs, that run so speedily around the house in those favorite shorts.
We've retired his favorite Mud Hens t-shirt.  It finally had holes that were big enough to convince even Beau that it was time.
He's got a remarkable memory for places he's been & people he's met in his first four years.
He's become a creative wizard, drawing & cutting & taping.. creating 3-D paper cars with wheels & graduation caps with tassels & more.
He tosses footballs & dribbles basketballs with Mason & Eric,
builds & plays legos with Johnathan,
colors & plays babies with Lilly.
Every night we play "I Spy" and then take turns telling stories, Beau & I.
Watching him as he falls asleep is one of the most beautiful things.
His bright smile & bright eyes fuel my days.
So much expression in those eyes when he talks.
And so much expression in what he says.
He tells me, "I just love it when you sing, Mama."
He loves to munch on carrots.
He cares for the world around him, and all creatures.
Yesterday he caught a pet fly.
He's super excited about spring & summer, and is coming up with "great ideas" for things we will do.
He often still likes to be close at night.. forehead-to-cheek close.
I'm aware this doesn't last forever & am loving it while it does.
He's so darn caring.  So very, very caring and sweet.  And comical.  And good.

The following photos of our four-year-old were taken today.
Love his lashes.   And his voice, and his laughter.
And his hugs.  And all that he adds to our lives & our family.
  Love you, Beau.
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young

May you stay forever young.

  1. that brought a tear to my eye (& a smile, too)! He is so wonderful, and I'm a huge fan on the "forever young" song.

  2. Sweet....What a handsome little man that guy is! I sure do think it gets tougher to see these younger ones grow up. Sweet as can be.
