We went on a little midweek getaway last week, a belated celebration of our 15th anniversary. It was almost entirely unplanned and couldn't have turned out much better. We took an evening cruise, visited apple orchards, walked a beautiful beach, hiked a long hike, took in some beautiful architecture, and much more.
We had to be back by Thursday night, as Mason & Eric had their first football game of the season. (Their first varsity start.) We made it there on our way home.
Aside from our getaway and football, we've been canning & cooking all kinds of fresh garden produce, and getting ready for the start of school this week. (Kind of a big deal! All five of them will be off this year.) Checking off school supply lists, getting shoes to fit everyone's feet, haircuts are on the agenda this afternoon. All of these things have taken the front burner during these final, busy days of vacation.
But there are many photos to come!
For today, something orange, linking up with Mandarin Monday.
As many know, we enjoyed a Blue Moon on Friday.
This photo of the Orange Sun was taken in northern Ontario at our cabin. Two summers in a row during our visit, there have
been forest fires that turned the sky hazy & gray with ash & smoke, causing the sun to glow a brilliant orange in the midday & cast a coppery shimmer on the water.
Today is Labor Day, and brings an end to our long summer days in the sun.
