Davidson Windmill : Lakeside, WI National Historic Site

A week ago today we were traveling the north edge of Wisconsin along Lake Superior, returning from our quick anniversary getaway, when our path took us by this windmill.
It's a beauty, built by Finnish immigrant, Jacob Davidson (Jaako Tapola), overlooking the Amnicon River off current Hwy 13.
This mill has stood through over a century of lake effect snow & extreme temperature fluctuations.  Those Finns really knew how to build.
I snapped these photos with my SISU pin proudly attached to my camera strap.

*For more info & availability of tours of the mill and Finnish dovetail house also on the site, visit the Old Brule Heritage Society.
