Our forty-two pound pumpkin.

The kids & I plan to carve our jack-o-lanterns this evening.
We grew one very fine pumpkin in our garden this summer (photos are deceiving.. it's a mighty nice pumpkin, weighing in at 42 pounds!) and a handful of smaller, good carvers.
I love having homegrown pumpkins on the front porch.

Below are our jack-o-lanterns from last Halloween.
At that time, I noted the front steps needed sanding & staining.
Felt good to get that accomplished!

Last year we had a brilliant, spell-casting wizard.  A serious & mysterious vampire.  And a sweet little garden gnome.  (And a set of twin teenagers who didn't dress up.)

As per my usual, our costumes are not ready to be revealed yet.
(The above costumes were whipped up the day before Halloween.. more about that in last year's post.)
Who knows what kind of trick-or-treaters we end up with this year!!

Pumpkin time is a great time to be sharing with Mandarin Monday!

  5. Great photos! That first shot with the closeup of the pumpkin against the angular pattern of the floor and wall is great. And i love that you combined the pumpkins with your dog! He is the right colour for it too:)
good luck with the costumes, last year your children looked great in them.
Thank you for taking part in Mandarin Orange Monday:)

  6. That dog...what a majestic animal!!! Beautiful among the pumpkins. Darling kiddos in that costume image, too!

    1. Thanks, Evelyn! That's McGee. We're fond of him. Here's a little photo tribute in honor of him, in case you're interested. :)
